A new partnership that makes sense by Véra Larock

18 June 2019

At the start of this year, as part of its commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), VO Group became a member of the non-profit Be.Face. The aim is to help build a more responsible, supportive society – something that is very much a part of who we are here at VO.

Be.Face is a network of companies that supports initiatives to integrate vulnerable people into society and the workplace. Team members are able to get involved individually and be in direct contact with the people they are supporting.

VO has a crack at mentoring

Out of the various programmes run by Be.Face, VO Group chose to sign up to the Bright Future scheme. This mentoring programme is intended for university students whose economic, cultural social and/or community background risks harming their access to the world of work.

VO team members act as mentors, showing the student how they work, sharing their experience, developing the student’s network, providing methodological support and helping the student with their career choices.

The importance of sharing hands-on experience

Alexandre Velleuer, Managing Director at VO Event, has thrown himself into the mentoring challenge and gives it rave reviews.

“It's really gratifying. You tend to forget that you’ve got things to share. These things may seem obvious to you, but they could really help someone who isn’t in the know. And the icing on the cake is that it also gives you a sense of purpose in your work.”

Based on its first foray into the Bright Future programme, VO is convinced that by helping others, we help ourselves too. No doubt this initial partnership with Be.Face will pave the way for a whole series of VO mentors in future!
